Rhody the Ram

GO RHODY!

Rhody the Ram is the spirit of the University of Rhode Island both at home and on the road. The Ram became our mascot on March 8, 1923, and on November 21, 1929, the first actual "live" ram made an appearance. Live mascots were actually housed on campus for many years until the 1960s.

Rhody's New Look

On February 25, 2009, the URI Alumni Relations Office and Department of Athletics unveiled a new Rhody that reflects the optimism and big thinking of the University. Although his name has changed from Battering Ram to Ramses to Rhody the Ram, and he's had a few makeovers over the years, our much-loved mascot has always been at the heart of URI spirit. GO RHODY!
