The URI Alumni Association is committed to supporting a scholarship program which benefits approximately 250 students each year. Significant funds are raised through annual events such as the Winter Gala and the Alumni Golf Tournament, giving alumni the opportunity to enjoy these popular activities, reconnect with fellow alumni, and do their part to help current URI students. Scholarship information is available from the URI Office of Enrollment Services, which is the University resource for questions regarding financing a URI education.
Alumni Children Academic Excellence Scholarships
The URI Alumni Association sponsors the Alumni Children Academic Excellence Scholarships, which are awarded to six alumni children each year.
Scholarships will be awarded only to those who submit a formal application.
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement for the previous year. All credits and grades must be earned at the University of Rhode Island. Credits and grades earned at other schools, even though part of a university recognized program, do not qualify. Scholarship applicants with the highest grade point average among the pool of applicants in each category will be awarded scholarships.
There will be six (6) $500 awards in total (two sophomores, two juniors, and two seniors).
The awards will be presented during the summer preceding the respective years.
Any son or daughter (dependent or not) of a University of a Rhode Island alumnus (as defined according to the Alumni Association By-Laws) is eligible if presently enrolled at the University of Rhode Island.
The awarding of this scholarship may affect a student presently receiving financial aid.
