Government Relations
The Office of Government Relations promotes positive relationships and effective communication between the University of Rhode Island and representatives of local and state government.
Major areas of focus for the Office of Government Relations include:
- Serving as the liaison from the University to the Rhode Island General Assembly, the Office of Higher Education, and the Office of the Governor. During each session of the Rhode Island General Assembly, the office works with senior University administration to support the University's legislative agenda.
- Providing guidance and management for the University’s efforts (in coordination with the Office of Higher Education and the Board of Governors), for increasing state funding and the appropriate legislation for URI and higher education.
