InAdvance@URI, our bi-weekly electronic report of University news, events, and alumni updates, was launched on December 4, 2003, as a key component of the University’s e-communications program. Since that first issue, this popular e-newsletter has been keeping URI alumni and friends in the loop with the latest University happenings and links of interest. On October 11, 2007, we will celebrate the distribution of the 100th issue of inAdvance. Readership has grown more than 185 percent since that first issue—from 18,969 subscribers in 2003 to 54,251 subscribers today! InAdvance subscribers hail from 50 states and 44 countries, and include URI alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students, state legislators, media contacts, and friends of the University. Through inAdvance, the University of Rhode Island is now able to communicate electronically with more than 40 percent of its alumni—with alumni subscribers representing class years that range from 1926 to 2007! “Working toward better communication with all of our constituents has long been a priority for us and we are delighted with the response to inAdvance,” says Bob Beagle, vice president of University Advancement “We are proud of the University’s wide range of academic, research and athletic achievements, the accomplishments of our alumni, and the opportunities URI makes available to the broader community.
