 Be part of URI’s Grassroots!The University’s Grassroots organization is broadening its horizons by recruiting new members and encouraging other groups, such as the Alumni board and government relations committee, the Foundation board, Alumni past presidents, student leadership, and other campus constituencies to become involved. Led by Andrea Hopkins, interim assistant vice president of public affairs, the group will become a vital network of support for URI and higher education with the Governor and the General Assembly during the new legislative session. “To be most effective, we want to develop a well-coordinated approach for appeals and other calls to action as part of our overall government relations program,” said Hopkins. “We’d like to get a fresh start as the new session gets underway. Just as the name implies, this group is critical to building strong turf!” After learning about the University’s position on the myriad of issues facing the institution - from funding to policies to governance - Grassroots members will be called on as emissaries for the University at the community, local, and state levels.
