
New University Advancement staffThe University of Rhode Island Division of University Advancement has welcomed several new members to the development staff:
Lynn Clapham has been named as the University's first director of major gifts. Clapham will work on the University's Shareholders Campaign for Ballentine Hall and will manage a portfolio of major gift campaign prospects and begin to immediately solicit their support. When the campaign is completed, he will work on other University campaigns and projects that seek major gift support. Clapham has been in the development field for more than 20 years, and has worked in both public and private sectors.
Maureen Coleman was appointed to head the University's Annual Fund. Coleman spent the last 10 years of her career with Epsilon Fundraising and Membership Services where she began as an account executive and rose to the position of account director. In this capacity, Coleman directed donor acquisition and renewal programs for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, including work with its annual fund, membership program, special campaigns, major donor initiatives, and special events programming.
Katherine Horoschak has been named the University of Rhode Island's new assistant director of development for marine and environmental programs. In this position, she will be responsible for generating private support for the colleges of Environmental and Life Sciences and the Graduate School of Oceanography. Horoschak has extensive background and experience in major gift work and an interest in the environment. She comes to URI from the Rhode Island Field Office of the Nature Conservancy, where she was director of development for four years.
Louise D. Rosarbo has been named as director of the Convocation Center Campaign. Rosarbo had previously served as assistant director for the campaign and succeeds Bob Turcotte who recently accepted a position as assistant vice president and executive director of the Foundation at Massachusetts Bay Community College in Wellesley, Mass. Rosarbo will cultivate and solicit gifts, work with volunteers, and manage the campaign for the University's Convocation Center, a $54 million project of which $15 million will be raised through private gifts. Rosarbo has been involved in fundraising for the past five years. Before coming to URI, she worked at the Rhode Island School of Design as director of the college annual giving and later as director of special gifts and assistant director of major gifts.
Wade Wilkes has been appointed the University's director of planned giving. Initially, Wilkes will be responsible for the College of Business Administration's Shareholders Campaign before becoming full-time director of planned giving. Wilkes comes to URI from Regis College in Massachusetts where he was the director of planned giving and major gifts. Prior to joining Regis, Wilkes was the associate director of planned giving at the University of Virginia where he was directly involved in Virginia's highly successful billion dollar capital campaign. In addition to his considerable fund raising experience, Wilkes has professional experience in both the banking and insurance industries.
