In Memoriam

Terry Thomason, age 51, director of the Schmidt Labor Research Center and associate professor of industrial relations since 1999, died at his Newport home on April 20. Thomason’s research interests included workers compensation, workplace safety and health, and public sector collective bargaining.

Memorial contributions can be made to Home&Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 143 Main St., Wakefield, R.I. 02879. Thomason’s family also suggests memorial donations of books to the URI library or contributions to the Industrial Relations Research Association.

Raymond Panzica, age 61, chairman of the department of chemistry and a professor since 1976, died May 7. A resident of Narragansett, his research focused on medicinal chemistry, especially the synthesis of nitrogen heterocycles. He was active in many scientific organizations and had published nearly 100 papers in scientific journals.

Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the URI Catholic Center or the URI Foundation for chemistry scholarships.
