URI launches Campus Community Appeal
What do the URI Library Fund, the Excellence Fund, and dozens of endowed scholarships have in common? They all receive considerable financial support from URI faculty and staff through the annual Campus Community Appeal.
“Involvement by faculty and staff in the Campus Community Appeal provides more than essential financial support,” said Andrea Hopkins, interim assistant vice president for public affairs and chair of this year’s Appeal. “Just by participating, you strengthen the University in a valuable way. Broad-based support from within the community makes a clear statement to all URI constituencies that we are interested in the advancement of a broad range of University programs.”
Last year’s Appeal raised more than $205,000 from 465 faculty and staff members. With this year’s state budget cuts and the still-faltering economy, continued support from the campus community is more important than ever.
Any contribution to URI from faculty and staff counts as part of the Campus Community Appeal, whether it’s to an existing URI Foundation endowed fund, the Annual Fund, a scholarship, or to athletics.
Gifts can be directly made by check or credit card or through the State Employees Charitable Appeal (SECA). Employees donating to URI by making a payroll deduction through SECA should designate their donation to either code 6491 (for gifts to the URI Foundation for existing endowments) or 8403 (for the URI Alumni Association for the Annual Fund or athletics).
To make a donation by credit card or for additional information, call Marisa Albini at 874-2438 or email email@example.com. Checks made payable to the URI Alumni Association or the URI Foundation should be sent to Campus Community Appeal, 21 Davis Hall, Kingston, RI 02881.
