Honors Colloquium update

The final programs in the 2003 fall Honors Colloquium series “The Futures of Globalization” are as follows:

Nov. 3 - Intercultural Journeys in Music, a conversation and performance with David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra; Ohad Bar-David, cellist with the Philadelphia Orchestra; and Simon Saheen, violinist, composer and producer of the Arab Festival of Arts in New York. Edwards Auditorium at 7 p.m.

Nov. 6 - Globalization and Responsibility: A Virtual Riot. Performance artist Tom Sgouros will accompany a computer whose personality bifurcates into an anti-globalization activist and a business owner. Multicultural Center, room 101 at 2 p.m.

Nov. 12 - Globalization and Rights at Work, a lecture by Susan Hayter, senior analyst at the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization, and Scott Nova, executive director of the Workers Rights Consortium. Chafee Social Science Center, room 271 at 7 p.m.

Nov. 18 - Constructing the Community Economy in the Face of Globalization, a lecture by Julie Graham, professor of geography at the University of Massachusetts. Chafee 271 at 7 p.m.

Nov. 25 - Careers in a Global Economy, a panel discussion with Rolf-Dieter Schnelle, consul general of Germany; Eric Roiter, senior vice president at Fidelity Investments; Bob Kearney, vice president of finance and information technology at Texas Instruments; and Colin McCullough, manager of the Book Donation Program for the Sabre Foundation. Chafee 271 at 7 p.m.

Dec. 2 - Globalization and Social Justice, a lecture by Bernard Cassen, co-founder of the World Social Forum and professor emeritus of the Institute of European Studies at University Paris VIII. Chafee 271 at 7 p.m.
