Dr. Kathleen M. Mallon was a key force behind the URI Master Gardeners and URI extension and outreach programs, the University's master planning process, and the planning and construction of the Ryan Center and Boss Arena. Kathleen was also a tireless advocate for campus improvement and beautification.

In honor of her many contributions to the University, a naming and dedication ceremony for the Kathleen M. Mallon Outreach Center was held on November 6, 2008, in the Cooperative Extension Education Center and Botanical Gardens on the URI Kingston Campus.
