What's new on the Advancement Web Site?
It's no secret that the Internet has changed the way people communicate. URI is taking advantage of the latest advances in this technology to stay in touch with alumni and supporters.
WEBSITE UPDATE By the time you receive this magazine, our redesigned Web site should be up and running. Take some time to visit www.advance.uri.edu and let us know what you think. Among the new features: an updated "What's New" page that will provide an abbreviated list of activities and news, along with links that will take you to other pages with more details. You can also find out the latest information about alumni events, vacation packages, and chapter get-togethers across the country.
ALUMNI START PAGE To get your day off to a good start, sign up for www.urialumni.org. Think of it as an electronic newspaper - which you design. You can customize this start page to contain URI news, national and local weather reports, stock information, and online shopping, among other features.
E PHILANTHROPY If you'd like to make a gift to URI, the Internet has made it that much easier. You can now make a gift to URI online, using your credit card, which will be processed through a secure server. (See related story on page 12.) For more information, visit www.WHAT.org.
HOMECOMING PLANS Homecoming Weekend this year, which takes place October 13 and 14, is better than ever. We hope you will make plans to visit.
On Saturday morning, groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Convocation Center will take place. At noon, the URI Rams play the James Madison University Dukes. Bring the kids: we'll have a family tent in the end zone. Then enjoy reconnecting with your classmates; reunion get togethers take place all weekend long. We will post reunion guest lists by class so that you can find out who plans to attend. We'll also list "lost" alumni in the reunion classes. Please let us know how to find them, in case they also want to attend Homecoming.
For more information about class reunions, and the new events planned for Homecoming Weekend, visit http://advance.uri.edu/alumni.
