 This model of the proposed Alumni Center, which will also house the Division of University Advancement, shows the warmth and appeal of the three-story shingle structure that will grace Upper College Road. Located across from Independence Hall between the IEP House and the new URI Foundation building, the center will be at the heart of campus with a gracious public function room and nearby parking. It will also be handicapped accessible, unlike the present alumni quarters in Davis Hall.
Construction of the Alumni Center is scheduled to begin this fall on the site of the old Sigma Chi fraternity house. The projected cost of the 20,000 square foot building is approximately $4 million. This will be met with repayable bonds and the Alumni Association's contribution of 15 percent. The tentative move-in date is December 2002.
