It’s been a great year for men’s basketball
The Rams advanced to the Championship game of the Atlantic 10 Tournament before falling to George Washington in a game that was televised nationally on ESPN. The Rams finished the year with a record of 19-14.
Head Coach Jim Baron (photo 4) was named 2006-07 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, the third time he has won the A-10’s top coaching honor. He was also one of 15 finalists for the 2007 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year Award.
Will Daniels (photos 2 and 5) was named to the 2007 All-Atlantic 10 First Team. He was also named A-10 Player of the Week on Feb. 18. For his efforts during the three-game stretch in the A-10 Tournament, including pouring in a career-high 29 points in the finals against George Washington on March 10, Daniels also earned Atlantic 10 All-Tournament honors.
Jimmy Baron (photo 3) was named to the All-Atlantic 10 honorable mention team. The sophomore shooting guard averaged 14.6 points per game, while connecting on a URI single-season record 97 three-pointers. Baron was also named to the Atlantic 10’s All-Academic team as well as the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for Fall 2006.
Kahiem Seawright (photo 1) set a new Ryan Center record in the second game of the season, grabbing 19 rebounds against Houston on. Nov. 13. He averaged 14.0 points and 7.7 rebounds during the Atlantic 10 Tournament, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team.
